Powell Dobson has been championing sustainable and energy efficient design since 1997 when we designed offices for Arup Cardiff, which were naturally ventilated and included exposed vaulted concrete soffits for enhanced thermal mass - a pioneering approach at the time.
Sustainability is therefore at the core of our design output and is reflected in our commitment to staff skills and our design review processes.
We currently employ BREEAM Assessors and Code for Sustainable Homes Assessors, all of whom are qualified architects, ensuring an even more integrated approach to design by our architectural teams. We are also certified PassivHaus Designers.
Our design approach is always one of "fabric first", with the fundamentals of the building envelope designed to ensure that environmental control is managed as passively as possible, before resorting to energy-consuming technology.
Our track record of completed buildings with BREEAM certification, including two projects achieving "Outstanding", is a testament to our extensive experience in this field.
