We undertook both the masterplanning and design of this new Community Campus, which is located on a steeply sloping west facing site, with dramatic views over the World Heritage Town of Blaenavon. The development comprises a new primary school, health centre (designed by others), leisure and community facilities on the site of the former swimming pool and recreation centre with the intention of providing a focus hub for the community. The new replacement primary school provides 450 primary school places in addition to a 65 place nursery with accommodation for Flying Start and Sure Start initiatives.
Pupils have dedicated access to the new leisure centre which comprises a two court badminton sports hall with wet changing rooms, fitness suite and dance studio. Pupils also have access to the Multi Use Games area which can be used by the community outside school hours.
