The 850m2 store which stands on a brownfield site in Aberystwyth Road was built in just 21 weeks and it was the 13th new ALDI store to open in South Wales in 2007.
To the front, side and rear of the site, there are 85 car parking spaces available, surfaced with tarmacadam with soft landscaping to certain areas of the site. The store is highly environmentally friendly and the company required the appearance of the store, and surrounding area, to represent the high quality of the products inside. The Air Handling Unit is highly energy efficient and is used to heat and ventilate the retail area, with a separate gas fired Combination Boiler providing heat and hot water to the welfare block, and hot water to the overhead heaters above the entrance and exit doors.
To the rear of the site there is a concrete constructed ramp to the loading bay area towards the dock leveller, with the refrigeration plant housed within a fenced area to the rear of the site. Existing side and rear boundaries were rendered white with a concrete coping over to complement the new building.
