This scheme for CNC Properties involved the re-development and regeneration of a 1960’s shopping precinct, this time to create the new town centre. The scheme required the demolition of the existing Valley Centre shopping facility, the replacement of the Lord Street ground level car park, relocation of the public toilet facility, and remodelling of the existing James street service yard area.  The Town Hall frontage opposite the bus station was to be retained.
The project involved:
• 14 new shopping units set around a new covered arcade and along Kay Street
• 109 residential units of one, two and three bedrooms,
• 5 new cafes, bars and restaurants located around a new pedestrian space
• An improved and attractive pedestrian link to the bus station
• A multi-storey car park of 374 spaces, plus bicycle and motorbike spaces
• A Shopmobility facility, and,
• New public toilet facilities.
The existing buildings include the council offices, and the council are looking to hopefully move back into the newly developed commercial area of the development.
