The Visitor Centre includes an induction suite and tactical control room, as well as acting as the controlling mechanism for entrance to the whole of the site. The Centre also includes an Industrial Heritage Centre which will bring the history of steel making in this area to life. Training facilities and several meeting rooms are also located within this building.
The fourth building is an exemplar Medical Centre which houses a 4 Doctor Surgery, Nursing staff and relevant consulting room accommodation. There is also a ‘substance abuse’ testing area. This Medical Centre will act as the ‘flagship’ Centre for the whole of the South Wales TATA sites. All of the buildings are of a high environmental standard and we are progressing towards BREEAM “Outstanding” on these buildings as well as the offices and Storage Facility and the Training Centre.
Planning consent for this fast track development was achieved in 3½ weeks and full building regulations were obtained in 4 weeks. The start on site commenced in mid October with completion for three of the buildings in the summer of 2012. The Medical Centre will be completed in the autumn of 2012.
