This two-storey, ten-doctor surgery meets the client’s aspirations for a sustainable design with the incorporation of a curved and planted sedum roof covering, enabling the building to sit more naturally within its unique setting. The Doctors are assisted by a group of Practice Nurses, District Nurses, a Community Midwife and a Practice Manager with a full administrative team.  The nurses together provide a comprehensive service of nursing, health promotion and preventive medicine. Within St Leonard's Practice, there are a number of well-equipped private consulting rooms which enable the provision of a variety of services, such as osteopathy, neuro-physiotherapy and counselling.
This new ‘green’ health centre comprises one building for the group medical practice and An adjacent building providing accommodation for a dental practice, pharmacy and medical practice research rooms will allow the site to become a focus for local primary healthcare.
The design incorporates a series of ‘green roofs’ planted with Sedum and other perennials which will attract wildlife while providing an oasis of calm, one solution to the problem of lost urban wildlife habitats in our towns and cities. Locally sourced natural materials were used where possible.  The use of bricks, timber cladding and windows, linoleum flooring and under floor heating creates a sensitive and appropriate design in a highly visible site within a well established residential area.
