In September 2009 we secured the commission to develop the masterplan for the Maindy Road Campus in Cardiff.  This commission involved developing the masterplan for 60,000m2 of research accommodation on a 4.16 hectare site in the centre of Cardiff, at a transition point between a traditional residential quarter and the established University campus.
This process required us to manage extensive consultation meetings, which entailed the presentation of the evolving masterplan design in clear and unambiguous graphics, allowing members of the public to fully understand the design development process and the University’s aspirations and drivers.
The commission output was an outline planning application, supported by extensive illustrative and infrastructure studies (relating to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, services infrastructure, energy strategies, sustainability etc), and Outline Approval was secured in 2010. The Practice was responsible for assembling and coordinating the team of Consultants required and also managing the public consultation process.
